ANGKOR, TA PROHM II

Pastel, Ink, Collage

39” x 40” (99.5 cm x 100 cm)
2009

Layers of torn edges, severed forms, fluid calligraphic drawing and tactile, sensually gripping form tempt the viewer to take in sometimes discomforting, underlying content. The powerful roots, nourished by plentiful sun and rain, dwarf and strangle the ancient temples of Angkor and evoke questions about our 21st Century’s cultural hubris in the face of the potential of global warming.
