Urban Regeneration (detail)

Bronx Museum Terrace

Steel, sand-cast bronze, Coquina rock, red lava & weathered limestone

Area:10ft wide & 25ft long
7ft high (Largest section)

The steel and bronze originated as cast-off industrial and military scrap. Given a new life, they emerge newly formed and unpredictably assembled as metaphoric plants strewn across the terrace.  The bronze is shaped by the physical processes of the pour set among stones also sculpted by physical processes evoking associations with the environmental threat now posed by the industrial culture.
